Monsignor Rodolfo Vergara Antúnez

Once Rodolfo Vergara became Rector, he approved a new general regulation where the University's goals and objectives were clearly defined, which contributed to its remarkable growth. Rodolfo Vergara also presented a consistent number of regulatory measures. New units were created and the organization of existing institutions took place in an organic and orderly manner.
In 1901 the Central Library was inaugurated in the former Unión Central building. In 1902 the first stone at Casa Central was blessed. Two years later, a course in Agronomy was offered, leading to the inauguration of the Faculty in 1909.
